Creative Capacity and Quiet Transitions
On Archiving The Blooms Collection
Every piece of art has its own natural lifespan, and as artists, our studio practices do too. For the past few years, The Blooms Collection has been a deeply meaningful chapter of my work. It began where all my favorite things do, intuitively, in the quiet pages of my sketchbook, capturing the raw ink linework and luminous washes of some of my favorite flowers.
Watching those private studies grow into a full collection that found its way onto your walls has been an incredibly beautiful experience. But lately, I have found myself thinking deeply about creative capacity, sustainability, and what it means to run a truly mindful studio.
As a multidisciplinary artist living with chronic illnesses, my energy is finite. To protect my well-being and make room for the new creative chapters calling to me, I am learning the importance of building capacity-based systems in my life. Sometimes, moving forward requires us to gently close doors behind us to make room for something new.
For that reason, I have decided to retire The Blooms Collection from active commercial sales quietly. In the digital world, a "retirement" usually comes with a lot of noise, frantic clearance sales, countdown timers, and inbox clutter. That model simply doesn't fit the restful, intentional space I want to cultivate here. Instead, I am choosing a quiet transition.
Rather than hosting a clearance sale, I have carefully tucked the remaining archival prints and cards away in my studio files. Moving forward, these pristine archival prints and cards will live on as exclusive, surprise gifts for the collectors who invest in my original fine art paintings and photographs. It feels like the most elegant way to honor the work while adding real, heartfelt value to the people who support my studio’s deepest journey.
The Blooms Collection isn't disappearing; it is simply returning to its roots. The entire series is being moved into a permanent, digital portfolio archive on my website. It will stand as an open-ended celebration of botanical form, a restful archive of light, process, and a gentle reminder of why it is so important to stop and smell the roses.
